Autumn Seasonal Tips October brings us the “changing of the leaves” and Halloween. With children out trick-or-treating and pranksters afoot it would be wise to keep your pets indoors. Black cats especially can be the victims of cruel pranks or ritualistic acts of humans. When greeting guests, the animal could become frightened and make a rush for the door as you are handing out treats. The foil wraps on candies can cause internal injuries if swallowed. Remember that some holiday treats can be harmful or toxic to pets! November blows in the “Turkey Trot” and Thanksgiving. Watch the helpings of turkey and ham and don’t overstuff your pet with table scraps and drippings. Overfeeding of human food can cause serious upset stomach. Be careful of animals in the kitchen with all the cooking and baking for the holiday meal preparations; don’t let them tip over hot pans of food or grease, causing severe scalding or burns. |
